Well hello everyone. It has been entirely tooooooo long since I have written a post. I apologize for my absence, but I thought my very first baby bump update would be the perfect post to explain why. There is actually a name for the condition that contributed to the amazing lack of motivation that I experienced a few weeks ago. It’s referred to as the First Trimester of pregnancy. Ha ha very funny I know. But seriously, I know the majority of mamas out there know exactly what I am talking about.
That is why I decided to start posting bump updates after entering the second trimester. Guys, I seriously couldn’t move with this baby for the first three months. Eric literally thought I could fall asleep leaning up against a wall…and he was right. The worst part was, when I was awake I STILL didn’t have the motivation to do anything. So, what’s the big deal? Why was I surprised about the extreme fatigue? Because I had NONE of it with Lydia. I was super fortunate to not feel pregnant until I got extremely large with her. So there it is. My sorry explanation for not being around. But I am extremely pleased to say I am back to feeling completely normal and can’t wait to share this journey with you ????.
Questions for you guys:
- Did you feel drastically different between pregnancies?
- What was the hardest part of your first trimester(s)?

FAVORITE ITEMS FOR WEEK 18
Bump Update | 18 Week
Size: Baby is the size of an artichoke! Is around 5.59 inches and weighs about 6.70 ounces. The pregnancy app I am using this go around is the Bump.
Weight gained: Honestly, I am not sure how much I have actually gained. The last two times I went to the doctor I was in Hunter boots and winter coat or heavy cardigan on the scale. I would like to think that made a difference? So far, the doc says I have gained four pounds…but I am wondering if it is closer to two. Either way I don’t get worked up about keeping track.
Symptoms: Like I said, my symptoms were mostly present during the first trimester and as soon as the second hit, it was like magic happened and the only thing going on now is baby bump growth. Oh, and some slight heartburn in short spurts from time to time.
Favorite wardrobe piece to wear right now: I am loving a flowy top under a knit cardigan. I still feel like I am in the stage where the tummy looks more flabby than a baby bump, so a little flow does wonders for my comfort. And the weather is still chilly in Wyoming so cardigans have been my best friend. I am rotating between the gray, black and cream listed below.
Boy or girl? We are counting down the days now! Our 20-ish week appointment is scheduled towards the end of April. We can’t wait to find out!
Nursery update: As of now, this babe’s room is loaded with junk. It is currently our spare room and has been a catch all for the last few years. We definitely have some work to do, but I can’t wait to share the progress.
Pregnancy related Item I have loved this week: I love my belly band by Ingred & Isabel. I wore this band for my entire first pregnancy, which was amazing because it allowed me to continue to wear the jeans I already owned! Definitely give this thing a shot if you are looking to give one a try.
One thing I am currently having trouble with: Not going into nesting mode already. Because the room for the nursery is currently a mess it’s making me a little uneasy as we approach the halfway point. Also, there are a few purchases and organization that needs to take place to give Lydia’s room toddler status. However, I now I have a plan to tackle her room first, then move onto the nursery. Also, Eric is picking away at finishing the basement. Don’t worry I know that’s completely insane…
One moment I loved about this past week: Spending time as the three of us. Sitting down for dinner, watching movies and reading books together has been so meaningful to me as I know those moments will be drastically changing in the future. I am finding the most peace during the day when the three of us can focus on each other.
One thing I plan to do for myself this week: I just received the book, Color Me Floral, in the mail and I can’t wait to go through it to get inspiration for my garden this summer. I would love to get that planned out in the next couple of weeks.
Food cravings: I don’t really have constant cravings. Every once and a while I will crave something random but nothing consistently. I was like that with Lydia as well. I definitely eat more sweets when I am pregnant…
Currently working on: Maintaining motivation to get to the gym. I belong to a Crossfit gym and I am continuing to go in the mornings before work…I just wish I could get there more than three times a week!
