It has taken me far too long to get the remaining post of this trip up, but the timing is perfect. Right now, Mendoza is gearing up for their summer season where world-wide tourists flock to drink from the Malbec mecca of the world. While we were there, we were fortunate enough to visit the three main regions of the wine country: the Uco Vally, Lujan de Cuyo and the Maipu Valley. I am completely envious of those people currently planning their trip to Argentina, and the next time I visit, I would like to go during the harvest season. I talk more about our visit during the fall here.
The two regions we visited last were closer to our hotel. The drive was beautiful as so many of the roads are tree-lined, and said to be planted specifically to provide shade for grape transport via horse and carriage when the wine industry first started in Mendoza. We did actually partake in horseback riding through a vineyard for a morning, but quickly returned to tasting wine in the afternoon. We took two days to cover both the Maipu Valley and Lujan de Cuyo.
Something to note. Touring wineries never got old. I was a little worried when we planned this trip that a week of STRICTLY visiting and tasting wine would get boring to some of the girls in our group. It was quite the opposite. Each experience was so unique and the wine was so good every where we went that we could have continued that routine for another week….or for eternity I’m not quite sure.

We also stopped by one of the oldest olive oil factories in the area – Laur olive oil factory. If you have time, and need a break from wine tasting I would highly recommend this. The flavors are amazing, and what you thought you knew about olive oil will completely change.
