Something I learned quickly when I started blogging was that it’s hard for me to keep my thoughts and inspiration organized. When I come up with an idea I want to share, my mind creates a vision, but translating that into a post is sometimes harder than I would like it to be. Creating mood boards has helped me prepare and foresee how to bring my blog posts to life.
Mood boards are the best way for me to visually represent what is inspiring me for a post, party, or period of time. There is so much that goes into a blog post. Styling the pictures, taking the pictures, planning the content, promotion, etc, which is why a mood board is important to my process. I constantly refer back to it to help me make better decisions around photography, design and color so that the content comes together like I envisioned. It’s the best way to keep me on track.
A month is good chunk of time for bloggers. Seasons change, holidays arrive and new trends emerge. As a guide for Living with Liddy posts, I have started creating monthly mood boards. These are something I refer back to, to trigger my inspiration for my planned posts, and I thought I would share them with you as a bit of a sneak peak for what it to come.
August Mood
August is a bittersweet month for me every year. Because of the heat, I start to look forward to fall. I love evenings on our patio in front of a fire, plaid blankets and crisp air. However, it is also the month where I want to hang onto summer as much as I can. Cutting fresh flowers, playing outside with my daughter and getting together with friends and family is so easy in the summer. So, in this mood board you can see glimpses of what I am hanging onto. Floral projects, the color blush, and simplicity is what I want to focus on during the remainder of the summer.
The transition for summer to fall has also got me thinking more artistically. I have been thinking a lot about my college drawing and painting classes. Finding some time to bring some of that back into my life this fall is a must. I love charcoal sketching so I might start with that. And because we will be doing more inside in the next few months I can’t wait to introduce more art to my daughter.
I would love to hear what you’re most inspired by right now. What trends are you loving, dreamy color combos, etc? Let me know in the comments section!
