A Simple and Classic Holiday Tablescape

Everyone told us that time would fly once we had Lydia, but we underestimated how true that really was. Staying on top of things is definitely more of a challenge and everything does seem to feel a little last minute. We had grand plans of staying organized this Christmas. Buy the gifts early, plan the events, organize the meals and wrap the grift as they come. Tid bits of each of those action items got done on time, but not all. The one thing I do feel ready for is Christmas Eve dinner.

I will be posting bits about the meal hopefully, (HOPEFULLY) next week sometime, but for now let’s talk about the table. I have mentioned this before, but I am really into beautiful tablescapes for special occasions these days. It could be yet another Pinterest obsession, but I do really love how a table setting can create a feeling.

This year and the last, I have incorporated fresh Christmas greens around the house to decorate. We have a large wall in the dining room where I hang the wreath I make each year. That has made a gorgeous focal point, so to match that I simply used a fresh garland to run down the table as a runner. Another obsession I have right now are candle sticks. So in love with this trend because it gives even the simplest settings a fancy touch. For little pops of red and a touch of vintage flare, I knotted french bistro napkins to go on top of the mismatched white plates.

A simple and classic tablescape will work perfectly this year. It will be easy to navigate food and people around the table. Do you host a meal during the holidays? And do you have a special way of setting the table? Please do share!
