Brooke Alexx is rewriting the rules of modern pop. With her infectious melodies and deeply personal lyrics, the independent AAPI artist has captured the hearts of millions — a feat made clear by the viral success of her hit single “All My Exes’ Moms,” which has amassed over 25 million streams across platforms. Her unique brand of storytelling, woven with humor and vulnerability, transcends pop clichés, offering a fresh perspective on love, heartbreak, and the self-discovery that follows.

The song that changed everything for Alexx came from an unexpected place: a direct message from an ex’s mom. “She dm’d me out of the blue, saying she loved my music and was rooting for me. Her kind message inspired the song!” Alexx says with a smile. What started as a simple sentiment soon spiraled into a viral sensation, landing her first place in American Songwriter’s Song Contest. “I had a good feeling about it when we wrote it, but it ended up becoming bigger than I could’ve imagined,” she admits.

Now, with her debut album, BIG MOUTH, set to release on October 4th, Alexx is gearing up to share even more of her story with the world. “The track listing tells my dating and life experiences in chronological order, beginning with my college breakup. I’m excited to give people more of a glimpse of what’s made me, me,” she says. This thematic exploration isn’t just cathartic for the artist; it’s meant to resonate deeply with listeners. Alexx’s music serves as a mirror, reflecting the universal emotions of heartbreak, resilience, and growth, ensuring her fans feel seen and heard. “My goal is to have listeners feel understood, like I finally said out loud something they’ve been thinking all along.”

For Alexx, this connection with her audience is everything. “Meeting fans at shows is my favorite part of being on the road,” she shares. “Hearing their stories and how my music has resonated with them will always be so special to me.” As she prepares for her first-ever headlining tour this fall, alongside a summer tour with Arrows in Action, Alexx is ready to turn those interactions into something even more immersive. “I’ve put together my very first playback rig, so I can be self-sufficient on the road. It’s important for artists, especially women, to learn these skills for ourselves,” she notes, emphasizing the importance of autonomy in an industry often riddled with obstacles for female artists.

As an independent artist, Brooke Alexx is navigating the music industry on her own terms. “Social media is such a blessing and a curse,” she reflects. “We’ve never been able to reach so many potential fans so quickly before, but we also open ourselves up to harsh criticism.” Her solution is simple: protect her peace. “At this point, I block anyone who comments anything negative. My mental health takes precedence first. Keeping a clear mind helps me to continue making art I’m proud of.”

Alexx is determined to keep pushing forward, even as the landscape of pop continues to evolve. “I hope we can see more AAPI representation in the top U.S. artists. I think it will take more of us making mainstream pop music to get there,” she says. As she looks to the future, Alexx’s goals are clear: expand her headline tour to more cities, take it overseas, and continue making music that reflects both the light and shadow of life. Her advice to those following in her footsteps? “Hard work always beats talent, so you have to keep pushing forward, even when it’s tough.”

In the world of Brooke Alexx, there are no shortcuts, no compromises—just raw talent, resilience, and a heart wide open. With BIG MOUTH on the horizon and her first headlining tour imminent, Alexx is poised to not just continue her rise but to redefine what it means to be a pop star in 2024 and beyond.
