This post was originally created in partnership with Bonnie Kaye Studio. All opinions are of course my own. Thanks for supporting the brands that make this blog possible!

This Christmas photo backdrop is still one of my favorite DIYs I’ve shared on the The House Of Perez. Sometimes, we just don’t have the time, energy or money to spend on family photos every holiday season. When Lydia was two, I decide to take on a photo shoot of my own and used hand-printed Christmas wrapping paper from Bonnie Kaye Studio to create a holiday-inspired backdrop. I added a few small wreaths with winter greens to bring it altogether. Other than how cute these turned out, my favorite part was I re-used the paper to wrap gifts once we were done! Saving money during this time of year never hurts my feelings. Speaking of the cost of the holiday season, I was able to put this whole thing together for less than $30.

I am a HUGE fan of Bonnie Kaye Studio. I can’t quite remember how I first discovered this amazing, hand-printed paper, but after my first order I was hooked. Her patterns are gorgeously unique, and the quality is amazing. Besides wrapping gifts, and this DIY photo backdrop, I’ve used it in a fall tablescape as a table runner as well.

HOLIDAY WRAPPING PAPER YOU NEED THIS SEASON

How to Make a Photo Backdrop with Wrapping Paper

With one roll of the paper (18 inches by 9 feet), I was able to cover enough wall space for a simple photo shoot. I had my camera on a tri-pod and set it up to create my frame. This helped me decided with length and width of the portion of the wall I needed to cover in order to create the backdrop. Once I decide the length of the backdrop, I measured the paper and cut across the entire roll, creating once long piece of wrapping paper. I attached that piece to the wall with tape, measured and cut again. The second time I went to hang the paper I adjusted the paper so that the patterns on each sheet matched up. Once you think it looks matched up, attach that piece to wall and repeat until you have the width of the backdrop you need!

To bring it all together, I added small grapevine wreaths with fresh greenery. It gave it that Christmasy vibe to complete the look. Honestly, the hardest part about this Christmas photo shoot was getting the toddler to cooperate!

What You Need To Make Your DIY Christmas Photo Backdrop

  1. Hand-printed paper from Bonnie Kaye Studio, or wrapping paper of your choice
  2. Small grapevine wreaths
  3. Fresh or fake greenery
  4. Tape
  5. Scissors

A couple more facts about Bonnie Kaye Studio paper. The paper is made out of 100% recycled paper in East Tennessee. Most importantly, the company donates 5 meals to Feeding America with every purchase from their shop. How awesome is that?! It’s shipped rolled, and out of the many paper purchases I have made, none of it has ever been damaged.

Bonnie is also just an amazing person. I have been digital friends with her for a couple of years now and it has been so fun to watch her business grow. Definitely check out her work if you want gorgeous, multi-use wrapping paper this holiday season!
