I have been fortunate enough to do a bit of traveling through my career and in my personal life. I have seen the inside of many hotels and as far as unforgettable goes, Finca Adalgisa steals the show.

This family owned estate and winery in Mendoza, Argentina stole my heart. When we were planning our trip, the five of us all (thankfully) agreed that we wanted to stay outside of Mendoza city, closer to the wine regions we knew we were going to visit. We were seeking a more authentic experience and Finca Adalgisa delivered.  We also didn’t want to be too far away from wine during our trip, but wanted access to the city so the location was perfect.

When we first arrived, we could not get past the beauty of the property. We drove through the front gate on cobblestone, and parked next to a pretty little fountain where a weeping willow dipped its branches into moss covered water. Introductions were made, and we were treated like family for the duration of our trip, making it one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had.

The Rooms

These are not your standard hotel rooms. When you choose to stay here you have your choice of preserved historical rooms in the old house on the property, a dreamy suite, or rooms in the vineyard with a poolside view. No room was the same. We were given a tour of each available room and then we were faced with the difficult decision of which room to sleep in. They were all gorgeous, of course. Each room can sleep up to two people. They do offer a suite option that will sleep up to one child as well.

The Details

I am a sucker for details. For me, details are what make the experience stand out from all the rest. It was fall this time of year in Mendoza, so many of the common rooms had a rustic fire place lit for a cozy touch. Skeleton keys are used to unlock the rooms. The bathrooms in the old house had windows in the ceiling above the sinks, bringing the outside in. Visitors can walk through the gardens and the vineyards. The Spanish tile was beautiful and carried out throughout the property. It was completely dreamy.

The Staff

Another reason why this experience was so amazing. They got to know us and the service was amazing. Everyone was so kind and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. For those of us that have minimal Spanish skills, they also all speak English.

The Food

Finca Adalgisa also has their own restaurant. Each night, the visitors gather here for their tapas and glass of wine included with their hotel reservation. The tapas were different each night, but they were fire roasted every time in the brick oven in the kitchen. The authentic Argentinian BBQ technique. Cristina, the head chef, offers a cooking glass where you learn some of the secrets in the food. We did spend an evening at the class, and I am so glad we did. I learned a lot, it was delicious and she was amazing to spend time with. Inside the old house is the breakfast area set up like a cafe. The chef in the kitchen can home make you something off of the menu or there are small buffet items as well. Breakfast was one of my favorite parts of Finca Adalgisa.
