I debated whether or not to put a gift guide together for this Mothers Day, but as I was looking around for those perfect gifts I realized something. There are so many small shops that I love and admire, and so many of them have been created by women who are also raising children! So, in honor of this special day I am giving a shout out those amazing women who have embraced motherhood while following their dreams.
Small Shop Gifts for Mother’s Day
Dwell & Slumber Caftan Dress | If you haven’t discovered this amazing company, please check them out. Once you lay your eyes on these dresses you will be asking yourself why you aren’t LIVING in one. I will soon be placing an order so that this baby bump can flow freely this spring/summer. Couple pluses: they also are great for nursing AND they are making childrens clothes…that MATCH the women’s dresses. I mean, c’mon.
Paintings by Celeste Clark | I am obsessed with this girl’s Instagram. So is so extremely talented and I am a sucker for her painting style. She created our Christmas cards this year and they turned out adorable. I am now currently debating which print(s) to purchase. She makes floral family portraits (pictured above in color). How cute is that idea? I think its a must for somewhere in my house…especially once this new babe comes. Speaking of new babes, Celeste just had one! He is the cutest! Special shout out to Celeste for her first Mothers Day!
Childhood History Journal by Promptly Journal | Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am pretty simple. I like clean lines, neutral colors and textures. So when I was searching for a baby book of some kind for Lydia, Promptly Journal was a great fit. It has been so easy to keep up with it – which I was worried about when I first started writing. There are prompts throughout the journal and it has a section for first, second and third trimesters, each month of the first year of the child’s life, and a section for each year until they are 18. There is plenty of space to add photos as well. I have gifted this many times for new mamas and have heard nothing but love for the product. The color pictured above is currently on its way to our mailbox for our next kiddo!
Wide Brim Sun Hat by Gigi Pip | So Ginger Parrish….I am just in awe with how cool this chick is. She is a mother of three, has a beautiful blog and is running the coolest hat company you can find browzing Instagram right now. They recently launched their spring line and I want it all. Straw hats are a staple for spring and summer so you couldn’t go wrong gifting this piece to any mother in your life. Also just follow her Ginger. So inspirational.
Baby Slings by Wildbird | And the list of people I obsess over continues! I have been following Taylor Golden since before I had Lydia. As soon as I spotted her baby slings, it was a must to tote Liddy around. Her product is amazing and she is an amazing mother of two! Her boys are adorable and her Instagram feed is gorgeous. I currently can’t decide between the two check patterns in the gift guide, but as soon as I do I am going to order one for the new baby. I currently have one similar to this color and it worked well with any summer outfit!
Cut Flower Garden by Floret Farm | A hobby that I have really gotten into is gardening. If you talk to Eric, he will tell you I have a problem and I need to seek every spring. I start collecting plants before the ground thaws. BUT, craziness aside, Erin Benzakein and her family run the most beautiful flower farm and published a book with the easiest gardening advice to follow. She made me feel like I could try anything in the garden, so I have been. I think any mother who enjoys gardening or flowers in general should have this book in their home.
Cosmo Seeds from Floret Farm | One of my favorite flowers are cosmos. Erin Benzakein harvests cosmo seeds from her flower farm in so many beautiful varieties, and you can purchase them on their website. Some of the types have sold out this year, but you can still order quite a few. I currently started seedlings of the Cupcake Blush and the Psyche White and they are going crazy. These flowers bloom all summer long and they are so easy to care for. Perfect gift for any mother in your life.
Palm Leaf Shopper by Plum & Sparrow | So once you check out this company and creator behind it you will fall in love. These baskets are handmade in Africa and 100% fair trade. Dianna, the creator behind the company is a mother of four! That alone inspires me. Lydia loves her mini market basket, but because IT IS mothers day soon, one might need one for myself….
Fawn Design Diaper Bag | This is an item I can’t believe I went so long without. My first diaper bag was so bulky and Eric hated it! Every time I asked him to grab me something out of it, he could never find what I wanted. This bag absolutely exploded in the Instagram motherhood community, so I have been following the company for awhile. I finally used the excuse of being pregnant for a second time to order one for myself. I also purchased the blush pink mini for Lydia as her big sister gift. She loves to do things that I do, so I thought it would be fun for her to use it as her hospital bag. Also, the story of this company is AMAZING. The owner started sewing the bags in her apartment. After a few posts on Instagram of the product it EXPLODED. Such a cool story. PS – don’t think twice once a re-stock hits, this things sell out in a day or two.
