So much is happening on and off the streets during New York Fashion Week, but there’s always a good handful of memorable moments, like Caroline Vazanna’s impeccable ability to paint the rainbow with her garments. You can always count on her to create a jaw dropping street fashion moment, and we were here for it. We were also lucky enough to steal a few moments from the creator of Making in Manhattan to give us her insight on what was most inspiring to her that week, and what we should all be watching for from the fashion world in the coming months.
A Moment with Caroline Vazzana During New York Fashion Week
Which shows will Caroline Vazzana be attending? Any first time appearances?
I’m so excited to be supporting some of my favorite designers and friends like Christian Siriano and Cynthia Rowley. But I’m also looking forward to supporting some newer designers like Melke and Colin Locascio.
What are you looking forward to most? Which designers have you had your eye on? Any new designers that you’re excited about?
I just love the live, in-person aspects of a fashion show. Being able to see the clothing that way, there’s really nothing like it. This season will be the first time the young brand Melke will be doing a show and I can’t wait to see it!
Please tell us about the outfits you will be wearing! What inspired them? Who designed each piece?
Fashion Week always calls for bold, fun looks! I’ll be wearing pieces from Christian Siriano, Kate Spade, Akanvas, Melke and Hellessy to name a few.
Do you have any fashion week rituals?
One of my favorite moments is right before the show starts. Everyone takes their seats, the lights dim, and there’s a few seconds of silence right before it all begins. I always try to take a really deep breath and center myself in the present moment, thankful I get to do what I love.
Do you have a go-to item that you wear during FW?
Always my glasses! They are a staple in my wardrobe and I love mixing and matching them to each look I wear.
What was your most memorable moment this FW?
Christian Siriano always puts on a stunning show and this season was no different. The runway was covered in roses and Coco Rocha closed the show in a black and pink tulle gown.
Which looks caught your attention on the runways and why?
I personally can’t stop thinking about the sequin floral dresses at Colin Locascio, they were a moment!
In your opinion, what trends can we look forward to according to what came down the runway?
There was a lot of sparkle this season which I loved! As well as long gloves and bold florals. I think after the past few years fashion is heading in a really playful, colorful, and maximalist direction, which I’m so for.
