Pump the breaks!! No – we do NOT know if we are having a boy or not. However, in anticipation of our halfway-point ultra-sound, I started putting some nursery ideas together. Once we do know the gender of this baby, I want to start rockin’ and rollin’ on putting it together.
I will admit, I was a little stumped when it came to decorating a boy’s nursery. I have been so focused on what Lydia’s new “big girl” room could look like, it was hard to know where to start for a baby boy. Eric is such an outdoors man, so that definitely gave me something to work off of. Once I started shopping around, I found some items that got me really excited about this room.
Baby Boy Nursery Ideas
Wallpaper. The new wallpaper trend has me really excited. Especially the peel and stick versions. I think that is something I can handle and it gives kids spaces such a gorgeous impact. I can’t wait to show you the paper I found for the nursery if the baby happens to be a girl! For now, you can swoon over the woodland creature paper from Chasing Paper. It also comes in a jungle animal theme if you’re going that route.
Grand Teton Print. This is one of my favorite finds. We are from Wyoming so this piece is extra special. I found this particular print from this Etsy shop, and has an awesome list of national parks, making it easy to find one that represents your part of the world.
Woodland Mobile. Super excited to share this mobile with you guys not only because it’s adorable, but it was handmade by the Etsy shop that custom made Lydia’s mobile for her nursery. The animals are beautifully crocheted, and if you are looking for something sleek and simple definitely check these out.

The Crib. I put the Hudson Babyletto crib on this inspiration board intentionally to brag it up a bit. Lydia is currently sleeping the converted version of it and we have loved it since we put it together. Thankfully, she has transitioned so well, that we plan to move her into a twin “big girl” bed so we can re-use this awesome crib. I will show you Lydia’s new bed in my post about her room update.
Basket. Honestly, I cannot have enough baskets. I have found that with Lydia, they have been the easiest form of toy/blanket/stuffed animal storage for the both of us. I love being able to toss things into something that serves as decor as well. She loves them because she also can easily put things away and move them around the room. Loved this one because of the leather handles.
Pillows. I have always loved buffalo check pattern and I thought a neutral version of it would work perfectly for this space so I can easily pair it with other patterns and throw pillows. I also think these are perfect for a little guy to grow into and can transition into a toddler’s space.
Tree Stump Side Table. This is also something that I plant to re-purpose from Lydia’s nursery. I picked this up from West Elm before she was born and I am excited to continue to use it in the next nursery. The size is perfect and does not take up a lot of space. The other reason I bought this side table is because I could see it living in other areas of our house once it doesn’t work in the kids’ rooms anymore.
Rylee & Cru Bear Blanket. This company has been one of my favorites since becoming a mother. The patterns that Kelli Murray develops are simple and stunning. This bear pattern just so happens to go with this boy’s nursery perfectly and comes from her most recently launched Spring/Summer line.
Leather Pouf. One thing we did not have for our non-reclining rocking chair in Lydia’s nursery was something to put our feet up on. Eric and I both agree that it is totally necessary this time. I am in love with this leather pouf because of the texture it adds to the space. And I really am in love with the color.
Rocking Chair. We all know this is one of the most important pieces in a nursery. It needs to be comfy and it needs to be cute. Right?! How much time do we actually spend in these things??? I’m not sure I want to know….just do yourself a favor and make sure you get one you LOVE.
