Uco Valley | Mendoza Wine Regions

On our first day touring Mendoza’s wine regions we traveled the farthest distance on our itinerary from our hotel to the Uco Valley. The beauty of this region is breathtaking with the wineries situated along the foothills of the Andes mountains. This area is one of the highest wine growing regions in the world and is known for Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Semillon and Torrontes production. In addition to all the red varieties being produced here, it is also becoming a premium source for white wines such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and even Torrontes – a grape that grows uniquely in Argentina.

Another trend that is emerging in this area are the smaller boutique wineries such as La Azul. This was my all-around absolute favorite stop on our trip and is one of the most popular places for locals and visitors in the Uco Valley. The location is has beautiful bohemian flare. I am in love with the story of how the winery came to be. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, young and passionate. And the food. I cannot say enough about how amazing our food was. We enjoyed a five-course wine pairing meal and ended our time here with a quick tour of the winery itself. The rest of the time, we listened to the owner play guitar, serenade a few guests while some ladies danced in the grass. A flippin’ dream come true for me.

I was also excited to check out the organic wine producer Domaine Bousquet. They had a superb red blend here and the property in the Uco Valley is gorgeous.

We had an amazing time at Bodega Andeluna. There were so many fun people we met while we enjoyed are tasting of six beautiful wines. We didn’t try the food here, but I was in love with the smell in the tasting rooms.
